The Story Behind the Name
The name Sandelbay Ranch is a combintaion of the ranch owners three daughter's names. "San" for his oldest daughter, Savannah (who's family nickname as a child was "Sanny"), del for his middle daughter, Delaney, and bay for the youngest daughter, Baylee. The name is symbolic of the legacy he hopes to one day hand down and the importance of family within the operation. As a long-time Jimmy Buffet fan ("Parrot Head"), the beachy image the name suggests was a natural fit.

Ranch History

The land the ranch is on used to be part of the historic Paloma Ranch. In later years, it belonged to the Harris Ranch Family (California's largest beef producer), adding to it's rich history as cattle-land.  In the 1970's, however, the Gila River overflowed, flooding the area and burying the ranch in water.  In the wake of this disaster, the land was taken back by the desert, quickly becomming covered in salt cedars, bushy mesuite trees and other hearty desert plants.  It wasn't until the family purchased the land in 2000 that it began to look like a ranch again.  It took a full year of sweat, manpower and horsepower to reclaim the ranch from the desert and clear the land for crops and cattle once again.  After 15 years in operation, the farm has continued to grow and transform, becomming the scenic family-farm it is today.
